Becky is a warm, down-to-earth child and adolescent counsellor, with extensive experience supporting young people in schools, local authorities, charities, and online.
Becky is an accredited counsellor with extensive experience supporting children and young people in schools, colleges, local authorities, charities and private practice. She has worked with young people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, friendship and relationship difficulties, grief, trauma and difficulties with school. Becky also has particular experience supporting neurodivergent young people, including those with ADHD and autism. Young people often find her warm, calm and easy to talk to, and she brings plenty of humour and personality into her work.
Becky works in a flexible, collaborative way because no two young people are the same. Building a trusting relationship comes first, and sessions are shaped around what feels most helpful to each person. Some young people like practical tools to understand anxiety, manage overwhelming feelings or challenge unhelpful thoughts; others need space to talk, be creative, play, or simply feel heard. Becky draws on person-centred therapy, CBT and trauma-informed approaches, always working at the young person’s pace and making therapy feel as natural and comfortable as possible.
Integrative
The therapist draws on several approaches, adapting to what suits each young person rather than following one method.
Person-centred
The young person leads the conversation while the therapist listens without judgement, helping them find their own way forward.
CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy)
Practical, structured work on the patterns of thinking and behaviour that keep problems going.
Trauma-informed
Works at the young person's pace with an understanding of how difficult experiences affect the mind and body.
Art and creative therapies
Uses art, music or movement to express and explore feelings that are hard to put into words.
Play therapy
Helps children express and work through feelings using play, their natural way of communicating.
Attachment-based
Explores how a young person's closest bonds shape how safe and secure they feel with others.
Narrative therapy
Helps young people retell the story of their difficulties in a way that separates the problem from who they are.
Psychodynamic
Explores how earlier experiences and relationships shape how a young person feels and behaves today.
Humanistic
Focuses on growth and potential, treating the young person as a whole person rather than a set of symptoms.
Solution-focused therapy
Short-term work that concentrates on goals and strengths rather than analysing problems.
DBT (Dialectical behaviour therapy)
Teaches practical skills for managing intense emotions and getting on better with others.
ACT (Acceptance and commitment therapy)
Helps young people make room for difficult feelings while focusing on what matters to them.
Compassion-focused therapy
Helps young people be kinder to themselves, particularly if they struggle with shame or self-criticism.
Motivational interviewing
A collaborative style that helps young people find their own reasons to make a change.
