Edi is a warm, down-to-earth child and adolescent counsellor, experienced in schools and online, helping young people feel heard, understood and comfortable being themselves.
Edi is a bubbly, kind and understanding counsellor who has experience working with children and young people in primary school and online settings. She has supported young people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, low mood, difficulties managing emotions, anger and family issues. Edi understands that every young person is different and takes the time to get to know them as an individual. Children and young people often enjoy her friendly and approachable nature, which helps them feel comfortable talking openly and being themselves. Outside of counselling, Edi spends most of her time with her young son, enjoying the everyday adventures and little moments of family life.
Edi takes an integrative, person-centred approach, tailoring sessions to each young person and what feels right for them. Building trust and feeling safe comes first. Some young people find talking helpful, while others express themselves more easily through drawing, games, storytelling or creative activities. Edi gently helps young people understand their feelings, build confidence and develop practical ways to manage challenges. The approach is flexible and shaped around each child’s age, personality, needs and what they enjoy, so sessions feel comfortable, engaging and meaningful.
Integrative
The therapist draws on several approaches, adapting to what suits each young person rather than following one method.
Person-centred
The young person leads the conversation while the therapist listens without judgement, helping them find their own way forward.
CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy)
Practical, structured work on the patterns of thinking and behaviour that keep problems going.
Psychodynamic
Explores how earlier experiences and relationships shape how a young person feels and behaves today.
Humanistic
Focuses on growth and potential, treating the young person as a whole person rather than a set of symptoms.
DBT (Dialectical behaviour therapy)
Teaches practical skills for managing intense emotions and getting on better with others.
ACT (Acceptance and commitment therapy)
Helps young people make room for difficult feelings while focusing on what matters to them.
Mindfulness-based
Uses present-moment awareness to help young people relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings.
Compassion-focused therapy
Helps young people be kinder to themselves, particularly if they struggle with shame or self-criticism.
Trauma-informed
Works at the young person's pace with an understanding of how difficult experiences affect the mind and body.
